Understanding the value capture of MEC:

• MEC has a total issuance of 20 billion tokens, with no additional issuance. Half of the total (10 billion) is permanently staked across ME Network zone nodes, with each user completing KYC receiving one permanently staked MEC from their zone.

• The other half (10 billion MEC) will be produced entirely through staking, with no pre-mined allocations. The first year’s output is 5 billion, halving each year thereafter.

• The MEC in circulation will mostly come from:

a. The permanently staked MEC from KYC users, generating daily rewards with up to 25% APY in the first year.

b. MEC earned from user activities and staked at up to 50% APY for fixed staking.

c. Airdrops decided by community proposal votes, including rewards for node validators.

• MEC will be used across various applications, such as staking for ME Hub validation nodes, paying transaction gas fees, and covering data storage costs. Rollup sequencers will also use MEC for transaction fees. With ME Network v2.0 launching next year, MEC’s utility will expand even further.
